Gore Vidal: The most prolific US government dissenter

The brilliance of the octogenarian critic echoed all through out United States of America; the intellectual arrogance of his language reflects the personality unique of the 21st century; the kind of thinking that even the “brightest” justice of the court cannot afford to surpass; and the opinion that cannot be understood by ordinary professional perspective.

Gore Vidal was a genius and one of a kind specie that lived in our time; his writings display a great wisdom which could pierce to the senses of the deaf-mute bully empire.

With all our appreciations and praises, we are thankful that we lived in the time of Gore Vidal.

Paul Whelmer Alforque: the man who cursed the Supreme Court

“The poor legal system, the wrongful conviction of the innocents, the corrupt magistrates, the impermanence of fixed principles, the questionable interpretations of laws, the misapplication of a legal theory, the arrogance and hypocrisy of the Justices, the admissions to the bar of the incompetents and the inefficient system of admission to the bar, the justice for sale, and many more anomalies and evil practices, were clear symptoms of a dangerous malady suffered by the Supreme Court”

This was the comment of the brilliant barrister Paul Whelmer Alforque when I asked him about his opinion on our legal system. He added that he too was a victim of the institutionalized arrogance of the Supreme Court when he was vying for admission to the bar but came up with a negative results although the exams were, according to him, manageable on these grounds:

a. that there is nothing new in the admission exams, b. that the items were fully scrutinized in the school, c. that it is a complete copy and repetition from the previous exams, d. that almost all items are in the textbooks, and e. the examination is very simple and basic such that the periodical exams in the law school were far more difficult than the bar exams.

An excellent college professor in language and social sciences who happened to be our adviser on all our affairs seems not amazed by the rejection of his letter to the Chief Justice asking for re-evaluation. He said that the Supreme Court is just displaying its “arbitrary craziness” – a term which he invented purposely for the Supreme Court. As observed by his colleagues, students, friends and the society, his prolific knowledge of the law and its remedies is entirely incompatible with his “failure” in the admission exams.

When asked about it, he answered that the clear and patent negligence in checking the papers is the sole cause of his unfortunate day, since the rates he got are not proportionate with the answers he made, he said.

He cursed the Supreme Court for proliferating and propagating the uncivilized arrogance; with formidable theatric eloquence, his magnificent oratory spewed from his tongue -

“…this is an insult to my dignified and honorable aspiration to become a useful participant of the legal system which was denied purely on the basis that an honorable intention cannot be harmonized with their misappreciation. The wrongful and negligent appreciation is a devotion to arrogance and such a devotion is a blasphemy to the civilized society of  man. This kind of judicial arrogance is a monument of personified stupidity created by the iron hands of hypocrisy and nurtured by the nutrients of judicial mistakes….if we will abide by this kind of judicial fallacy, then this generation commits the highest mistake of the century…”

Mr. Paul Whelmer Alforque is presently completing his graduate studies and was offered international bar admissions from various countries. He aimed to enroll on the Canadian Law Articling after his Ph.D.
